Five Steps to Withdraw and Weave in 313 is a first-steps training for Detroiters who believe another future is possible.

Many of us deeply value the work already being done by organizations like the People’s Assembly, Democratic Socialists, Jews for Justice, and many others. At the same time, it is clear that existing groups are overwhelmed by the scale and intensity of the moment we are living through. Rather than waiting for someone else to save us, we are choosing to step forward, share what we know, and help each other begin.

This event is for people who want more than protest alone and more than just joining another political party. It is for people who want practical, sustainable, local action rooted in Detroit and the communities we love.

During this gathering, we will move through five to seven core ideas, spending a few minutes on each one. Each section will include a brief overview, 2–3 actionable next steps you can take within the following week, and additional resources for deeper involvement. The speakers and exact content are still being developed, and none of us are claiming to be perfect experts or polished leaders.

We are simply Detroiters responding to the reality in front of us and choosing to act together.

The goal of this event is simple: when you leave the room, you will have met a few like-minded people, learned some practical next steps, and gained local resources that can help you orient toward the years ahead. We hope this gathering helps seed independent groups, neighborhood coalitions, and stronger connections with larger formations already doing movement work across the city.

This is not the last event. This is a beginning. Note: If you are a community organizer or interested in volunteering for this event, please review the attached Proton document, which is being actively updated, or join the Signal group.
