Turn your holiday frustrations into something deliciously tangy at our Fermenting for the Holidays Workshop — a hands-on lacto-fermentation class followed by good food and even better company.
In the first hour, we’ll dive into the foundational technique of lacto-fermentation, the same method behind kimchi, Sauerkraut, and countless other traditional ferments. Together we’ll build a live crock of sauerkraut while you receive a clear one-page guide to take home.

The workshop is taught by Spencer, who grew up in a fermentation family and has been eating (and loving) fermented foods his entire life, with guest insights from Coelho, a fermentation guru who has taught workshops across the U.S. (joining virtually depending on his current location). This is practical, empowering knowledge you can use for years to come.
After the workshop, we’ll shift into a relaxed social hour and potluck where you can taste some of Spencer limited collection (depending on inventory) or share your own ferments or dishes, and connect with fellow queer garden network members and neurodivergent folks in a low-pressure, welcoming space. Whether you’re a fermentation newbie or already obsessed with your own crocks at home, this evening is designed to be both educational and nourishing in every sense.
