No Thanks - Decolonized Friendsgiving

This Thanksgiving we’re saying NO THANKS to the colonial myth — and beginning the day with a sunrise hike on the very land we’re fighting to return.

Decolonized Friendsgiving is a radical, intimate chosen-family gathering that flips the script on stolen-land nostalgia and turns the day into honest history, creative resistance, and a soft landing with people you actually feel safe with.
We start at 7:30 AM with an optional sunrise hike — a quiet, grounding way to connect with the land before the heavier emotional and political work. Out-of-town guests (or anyone who wants to ease in) are warmly welcome to stick around and chill between the hike and the
2:00 PM main gathering. From there we move through a land acknowledgement, a myth-busting history circle that connects 1621 to today’s ongoing colonialism, a decolonized potluck with table prompts that spark real conversation, and a creative resistance workshop where we make banners, zines, and protest art together.
The evening closes with a soft Thanksgiving Recovery Lounge — just chill hangout vibes with people you feel safe with. Feel free to come crash out afterwards. This is not a performance of gratitude — it’s a refusal of the lie and a rebuilding of community care on stolen land.
